XE 2016-18 2.0L Engine Recall

Post by mash101_98 » Wed Mar 13, 2019 1:31 pm

Which? magazine is reporting a recall of several Jaguar and Landrover vehicles according to my Apple News.

Ten models apparently failing CO2 emissions.

Just checked ToPIX for my car, and there is nothing noted yet. The 2016-18 Diesel XE is on the list from Which!, but it doesn't specify if it's all three power variants or not. The 2018 Petrol XE is also listed.
Jaguar says that following the recall action, "owners may experience minor changes to the 'overall vehicle experience' " That doesn't sound like something I want, I'm not good with change, however minor.

The alternative might be to go to a VOSA centre and have them reissue the V5 with a higher emission so it can pass the MOT? Accompanying that with a higher road tax rate.

Unacceptable either way. I think I'd be taking it further if it impacted me.

Sounds like a rerun of the VW Golf fiasco and there’s no way I’ll be taking mine in (if it’s involved) to have the performance and driveability compromised for the sake of some nominal CO2 and NOx figures

Not looking great!

And for us, do we think the 2019 XE is immune because they corrected it previously, or has it just not been assessed by the regulators yet? :?

I did read it relates to MY16-MY18 diesel and MY18 petrol, although at the time of this post I can only find a recall for the diesel engine.
Presumably then MY19 cars are okay as these all had the new emissions figures, but lets see what happens.......

I wonder if this is anything to do with them now being eligible for an MOT? No matter how much testing is done, day to day use, endless roadworks, etc. may have shown up some unexpected results on a new engine. It will be interesting to see if it really does make a difference - who knows they may be quicker and emit even more daisies😀

BevC, you may be right, my old 180 had its MOT last year in October, it passed but I am not sure what test they do on the emissions.
