Battery replacement

Post by Vespa » Sat May 25, 2019 10:49 am

This has come up on Topix................... JLRAB0008 - Warranty Policy Clarifications: Purchased Batteries and Prior Authority Definition Does that mean the end of battery replacements under warranty? Can anyone find out with a Topix full access please.

It only re-states the fact that genuine Jaguar batteries have a 3 year warranty and that it only applies to 12V parts (and excludes others like coin cells in the key etc).

VW have just announce for their new ID range the following:-
Volkswagen will provide an eight-year/100,000 mile warranty on the batteries in its new range of ID electric cars and the battery guarantee maintains that the battery will retain 70% of charge at 100,000 miles or 8 years whichever comes first. I would think this would be an industry benchmark going forward. Now await the competitions response.

And at the end of the 8 years we will charge you £12000 for a new battery unit plus £800 to fit plus vat at 20%. The old battery will be disposed of in some far off land.

More than that for a big battery, the good news is they can be remanufactured and repaired.

I recall the I-Pace has a decent warranty, 7/8 years and unlimited mileage rings a bell

Makes buying a used vehicle with little or no warranty a huge gamble with replacement power packs possibly more expensive than the car value.
