Thanks for the outrage at my Dealer gents but at worst, getting into the pool delayed things by a week and a bit. My order was placed well over 7 weeks ago.

Like I said, perhaps my salesman is a "Walter Mitty" type but I think I might have a word with the Sales Manager at Taggarts especially when Jaguar Customer relations comes back to me now that I have sent them my order details. Jaguar's response should give me some more ammo to use...
Hi Alanqs,
Interesting that you went with Taggarts, (is that the Hillington branch?) I decided against them after the attitude of the Sales Manager (not the shop floor salesman - he was okay) he told me that since it was a new model there was no room for negotiation and it was ‘take it or leave it’. So I left it.

Yes, Hillington. I went in on 11th May since I was out that direction, talked to a salesman and for some reason he introduced me to the Sales Manager, don't know why. At that stage it was a mildly interested enquiry and I said I'd be coming out on the 25th May for a serious look though I did drop the fact that I already had a price though I wasn't going to pursue it any further that day and the Sales Manager came out with something like, there's no dictating, it's a negotiation. I thought to myself, no. It isn't. Match the price I already have or no sale.

I returned the following week since the car fitted my requirements and I had to find out if it was worth buying my BMW or returning it in which case I had to get my private number off in a hurry (and fix the wheels and the cracked windscreen!)

When it came to the "negotiations", I simply showed him my existing quotation, he went away for five minutes and returned with an order form for me to sign with a matching price. Job done.

Since then, however, things seem to have gone sideways. Unfortunately Jaguar haven't come back to me since I sent my order details. Perhaps they are having a little word in the Sales Manager's ear - I can but hope.

Different manufacturer, similar story.. Salesman then proceeded to tell me a pack of lies about the service package - no mileage limitation etc - I was waey because I had exactly the same story on a previous purchase from this dealer, but accepted his word. Big mistake.. Had a major wrangle with the yesterday because I had booked a service a whole month early. Compounded as I have been reporting a faulty fuel gauge - it show empty when there is around 10 litres in the tank. I finally had the definitive answer yesterday " This is a hybrid vehicle but it needs petrol as well (editorial comment, well I'll be blowed), and this is a design feature to ensure that you won't run our of petrol" I suggested that maybe a gauge that showed the actual amunt of petrol might be just as effective - and would cause my less anguish when the car informs her that she has 5 miles of petrol left and she is still 50 miles from home the M40. This isn't some tinpot outfit - the manufacturer, not the dealer, I mean...

For me the main insult was the bs on my trade-in. They told me a cock n bull story about Mercedes front loading their finance, hence the reason the trade-in offer was so poor, in fact they were worse than We Buy Any Car (I’m being serious here lol). Normally I would have negotiated but I can’t stand bs, that put me off big time and I couldn’t deal with them again. I went to Pentland Jaguar and got £2000 more for my C class and 13% discount on MRP. I considered this a fair offer and they have been great to deal with, just picked the car up today and am a happy chappy

Jaguar came back to me today to say that a "Solutions Executive" will contact me in the next 3 working days to discuss my situation. Interestingly, in both e-mails apart from solutions they made no response of any sort to any of my observations or questions, in other words, they said nothing. Politicians and diplomats are good at saying nothing and saying it with a lot of words. Not good.

Depending on what they say and do, one of my options is to cancel and go on to Carwow and see if Pentland are still offering good deals, after all, this mob has such a long delivery time, they probably won't be any worse.

Well, the "Solutions Executive" contacted me today and after admitting they didn't represent the factory but mainly dealt with post purchase issues, at least confirmed that the build would start in July for late August/early September delivery and I couldn't/shouldn't have been given a date of 26th July because the dealer wouldn't know at the time, what the date would be. The car is also not being made in Slovakia. Otherwise they were of no other help.

I phoned the dealer today and got a different line from the salesman, the factory is waiting for some engine parts, not that it's moving to Slovakia. And, it turns out that it's on the production lien and the spec. is locked in which is annoying as I have had a bit of a change of heart but now can't change it. But I can cancel still and re-order with the desired specification. I just didn't tell him the order wouldn't be with them but with a dealer who is offering an even better price.

Question for the forum. If I ordered the change from the new dealer say, on Friday, is there any reasonable expectation I could have the car within 12 weeks from order or is that way too optimistic of me because, shortly after the new one is supposed to be coming, I am away on holiday until 3rd October and 12 weeks from Friday is the 11th October and I could live with that.

My Evoque is finally going to be handed over on 19th July. Ordered 14th March. I know it's not a Jag, but the delay from order to delivery seems much the same as for an XE.

My much loved XE will be traded in. So I guess this one of my last posts on this super forum. Now to be found as "Havoc" on th Evoque forum. Cheers all!
