Hi guys!
Here I will post the issues I have with my first Jaguar, and what I've done to fix these. Hopefully these will be useful for users with the same issues.
I got my 15 plate XE SE from a private dealer, was out of manufacturer warranty but under some odd warranty from the dealer which later I found to be useless (up to £300 per claim, doesn't cover much - no sensors covered and not much of the other bits). I was quite happy with the price, plus got it with fresh MOT and 12 months of warranty (later to find out that is useless).
I got it from Birmingham, I live in Suffolk, drove there with no problems. The following day (Friday), the amber EML came on and a few days later the ABS errors related to the water ingress H014. I've booked it in ASAP to garage close to where I work and left it there for the day. They checked the speed sensors, cleared the faults and say everything looked fine, the speed sensors were picking up the rotations and speed of the wheels fine.
OK, the light came back on after a few days, these guys could not find the problem so I went to a different garage. These checked it, gave me a list of the fault codes (below) and said they're going to contact me with a quote for repairing these faults (never got called back; I called once to remind them and they said they don't have the quote and they will call me back when they have it).
P20EE - SCR NOx Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
C00031 - Front left wheel speed sensor; faulty signal; intermittent
So I've emailed the detailed list of DTCs to a few local garages, went myself to a couple and I only found one garage willing to try to fix these, quoted me around £460 to change the NOx sensor (£360 the genuine part supplied by Jaguar - no other supplier available, plus labour) which in his opinion was faulty. In the meantime I jot the car booked in with Jaguar Ipswich to have it checked (about £160 to check it). Jaguar found that:
The AdBlue tank was overfilled and the AdBlue was of poor quality which triggered the EML - quoted £201.60 to drain the AdBlue, pressure test the unit and fill it back up with proper AdBlue
The front left speed sensor needed replacing - quoted about £409 just to replace that one sensor and drill a hole in the left front wheel hub
Done the AdBlue job with Jaguar Ipswich a few days ago and so far so good, the amber EML did not come on yet, I will let you know if it does.
For the ABS sensor, I'm looking to do it at the indie as I find it expensive with Jaguar, plus I have the workshop guide (thanks forum) and the genuine sensor is about £70 new. I only need the guide JLR-204-842 which I was looking to buy but I did not find it in UK. Do you know where can I find this, or anyone who can lend it?
I will keep you updated on the progress.
