Not too bad yesterday, coming back from the Sister-in-Laws in Wiltshire.

105 miles home from the Chievely services on the A34 at 39.9 mpg, and a total round trip of 295 miles at 36.3 mpg.

Not as good as my old diesel Insipid, but a lot more fun (and about what I expected when I bought the XE)

By far the best bit, though, was the mileometer reading when I parked up on the drive:

Not bad, for exactly nine months ownership :D

With my 2.5 XE R Sport petrol, can't come near! best that I bothered to measure was 8.7 l/100km @ ave speed 126KPH over undulating road outside Cape Town. this translates into 32.4 MPG @ 78.3 MPH. As we only get 93 Octane petrol, this could have a bearing :?:

That was on a long days drive, with hardly any town driving, mostly on motorways and dual carriageways, so it is about as good as it will get - as an overall average, I'm getting about 31mpg since I got the beast :)

The worst I have managed over a tankful was just over 27mpg, but that was almost all short urban journeys

(Edit)
Suddenly realised I might have confused people!
The comment about 9 months was about the 7777 miles on the odometer, not the 36odd mpg - I'd be positively ecstatic with that as an overall mpg :D

I've managed 40mpg once, but that was in the summer. And I must have laid off the accelerator, as a tank doesn't last long if you're silly.

Drove to Duxford for the Battle of Britain event in 2018 from Durham and noticed the guy who owned the car had clocked a 55 mpg ride, I spent a good hour trying to beat him and eventually got 57mpg (R sport 200ps petrol)

I managed 39.6mpg average on a trip down from the Lake District to London. I thought that was pretty decent for the XE S as the AJ126 is a pretty thirsty unit.

...I've got my mpg up to best ever 43mpg on a long motorway run - south coast to Midlands, steady 65-ish, pretty good for a 3.0L!
