Should I?

Post by poxymoron » Sun Jun 21, 2020 7:37 pm

Hi everybody. I'm viewing this car tomorrow. I know I titled this thread 'Should I?', but I think I should. Buy it. If anybody would like to comment or give advice on what to look for I'd be very grateful and happy to listen. Thanks in advance.

I dont know enough to give advice but there's plenty on the approved dealers newer lower mileage and cheaper.

Thanks for your reply. The price is in euro if that makes a difference. I'll have a look at the approved dealers but used cars are typically more expensive in Ireland as there's less of a choice.

Earlier this month I purchased a high spec 2L R-Sport. The car had under 10k miles and is a 2016 model. It is petrol rather than diesel, but that was what I wanted. Cost me less than the car you are looking at. But your location is a factor.

You could buy in the UK as approved used and import into Ireland. VRT will be a pain at approx 20% but it might pay to investigate that route.

We don't mean to put you off, but don't rush into things unless you're certain you're getting a bargain. It's a buyer's market I'd say at the moment.

Personally I would hold off until you have seen others. The mileage is about 7000 pa the price is around €2500 higher than UK book price. The car would not have had red calipers on the brakes and who has painted them?. That makes me think a whizz kid has had it. Dealers usually have electronic service records not paper books. The description mentions standard items to all cars and fails to mention rear seats and whether they fold or not. It fails to mention memory seat pack although it says electric and whether it has traffic blind spot fitted. As mentioned by others, have a look and test drive, and look at others. It will still be there in a weeks time. Make sure if you do buy to get a full written warranty for 12 months or at least 6.
