With In control logging my journey's and location on the car can i use this to notify my insurance as having a tracker fitted.

Unfortunately not.
It's only a journey recording device/software.

A proper tracker when fitted has to have a Thatcham Research rating which can find your car whilst it's on the move etc.

If you login to your InControl account, you can tap the Tracker tab and check your status.
If you have the tracker fitted, there’s also a Thatcham 6.0 Certificate to copy and send to your insurance company.

I don’t have the tracker tab so I’m guessing I don’t have one

I queried this with one or two insurers, and my current Insurer (High rank in naval matters!) is happy to class it as having a tracker fitted. I was careful to explain that it was not a full tracker in the true sense of the term, but merely software that can locate the car remotely - they were and are still happy to class it as tracker fitted. So, ask your insurer. Be honest and tell them exactly what it does - you never know.

That is very surprising. Did they give you a decent discount? Mine has the full Thatcham certified tracker and I thought great, nice discount. No way. I was amazed to find that my insurer was not the slightest bit interested and when I checked on the comparison sites, hardy any of the others would give any discount either. I kept it while it was free as part of my original purchase but have now let it lapse. Just not worth £260 to renew it in my opinion.

I agree. Some insurers don't seem to want to know if you have a tracker or not. I've not seen the question asked on many quotes I've had but my current one did - that's why I asked specifically them if they would consider Jaguar Remote as a tracker and they said they would. To be honest, not sure it made any difference to the quote - pretty much all insurers have the pricing buttoned up so tight, a discount on one thing will just mean a load on something else. I just got the full price down to a level I was prepared to pay. I asked again at renewal about the Jaguar Remote and got the same answer - yes. On the subject of pricing though, I genuinely do believe that multi-car policies do have a real discount built in, so me and the missus have been on those for a few years now. Found it much cheaper than insuring both cars separately. If you have another car in the household, it's definitely worth considering.

Agree. This is the correct answer. It is easy to check online.

Having a tracker or not made no difference to my online quote last renewal time. I suspect it's due to Xe's being rarely pinched.
