Just had mine serviced at main dealer. Oil was drained via sump plug and new one fitted. Only done 2 miles and oil is clean but mine is petrol. My Volvo deisel blackened the fresh oil almost immediately.
Oil is changed at every service so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Did they charge you for a sump plug , my main agent always does ,so this would mean the oil was dropped in the traditional way rather than being sucked out. I would challenge them about it I had an oil change in April and the oil is still a golden colour.

Oil changed in April would not be golden if a diesel unless not driven!!

I recently had the oil and filter changed on my XE 200D a year after the previous service, because I don't think it is a good idea to have a 2-year or 21k miles interval. This is especially so when the oil can get diluted by diesel fuel when the DPF regeneration is interrupted. Whilst it seemed less black than before, it was still black ! Diesel engines seem to leave a huge amount of black "stuff" inside the engine, and I suspect only a flush would clear it all out.

I’ve just checked the service indicator and its showing as 5k miles till the next oil service (inly covered a couple of hundred miles since the service. I’ve emailed the service department with this and asked for proof the oil change was done. Ad blu was also not topped up.

Might be oil dilution. Do you do short journeys that dont allow the DPF to regen? Less of an issue on the XE but on the E-pace the 20k oil change is down to 5k or less.
