Started in 1979.
1970 Hillman Avenger 1250 Super (lived on for many years with my brother)
1975 BMW 2002 Lux (was mechanicley restored by myself then sold to a friend who finished the restoration and drove it into a ditch wrecking it beyond repair)
Use of wifes 1980 Mazda 323 1300, 1983 Mazda323 1.5 GT, 1985 Nissan Silvia Turbo, 1986 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 SRi.
1988 Ford Fiesta XR2,
1989 Ford Sierra 1.8 LX
1987 VW Golf GTi 8Valve
1990 VW Golf GTi 16Valve
1989 Vauxhall Senator 3.0 CDi (one of my favorite cars, was ahead of its time in many ways and kept it for 13 years)
1980 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6 Sportshatch
1995 Vauxhall Omega Estate 3.0 Elite
2001 Mercedes C320 Elegance Saloon (still owned)
1996 Rover 216 Estate (worst car I have owned by miles)
2000 Ford Mondeo 1.8 Verona
2004 Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 Estate (second worst car owned)
1990 BMW 318iS
2008 Volvo V70 2.4 Diesel estate (written off last year and apparently back on the road)
2015 Jaguar XE 2.0PS Prestige ( haven't had the Jag long enough or done enough miles in it to properly rate it yet, soured by initial problems with vehicle which dealer took too long to sort and one has now returned.) Love the styling, colour and the driving experience. We will see.

At times I have owned two or three cars at once.

Back in the eighties I worked in sales for Henlys as a salesman in Croydon selling Renaults and all sorts of other used cars so have driven all sorts.
The car I most regret selling was the BMW 2002.
The most fun car was the 16 valve Golf, I shed a tear when that had to go.
The car I drove a number of times but wished I had owned would be a Rover SD1 3500 in Vanden Plas or Vitesse spec and always wanted a BMW E46 M3.
I used to win a few fivers in the Silvia by betting passengers they couldn't touch the windscreen while I was accelerating to sixty. It was still in second gear when it reached 60. 0 -60 in under 8 seconds back in 1985 was awesome. I also had a company Renault 11 Turbo for a while at the same time which had the same engine setup as the Renault 5 Turbo. I used to surprise many a larger car with that at the traffic lights.

Super interesting thread though.

Stay safe everyone

Pretty sure this all of them, not sure on the years except for the first and most recent ones

Starting in 2004 with my first car
1990 MK4 Escort Eclipse (With electric windows and auto electric aerial!, got it for £300 when I was 17)
1998 MK6 Escort 1.8 Si w/ RS2000 recaro seats added
1997 BMW Z3 1.8i
2002 Peugeot 206cc (very brief few months as the Z3 eventually became too expensive to maintain)
2006 BMW 1 Series 116i
2008 BMW 3 Series 318i
2009 Audi A4 S-Line 2.0 TDI (This was my most recent car before the Jag and I was really reluctant to let it go, Xenon headlights, LED running lamps and rears, I added an aftermarket CarPlay kit that integrated into the original screen, with a touch screen membrane over it which worked superbly). I actually think this car looked much newer than it was with the lights and fact Audi kept the same basic design for so long

2015 Jaguar XE 2.0d R-Sport (180BHP)

I’ll be honest I’ve always wanted something much faster, but never plumped for anything with a bit more performance.

I nearly bought a 2010 Audi S4 or 2012 Porsche Panamera Diesel instead, but the particular Porsche in my price range was missing service history for the most recent 30K and one of the keys had been lost - Not expected with a car like that so a big warning sign for me.

The S4 would have got about 18MPG and I drive up to 400 miles per week for work when not in lockdown, plus I fancied something a bit newer, and tbh something that isn’t as boring as a lot of German cars are. My sister has a 250BHP Petrol XE (MY2019) on lease and although it has a newer interior layout which is more modern, the 2015 model I have is still 90% as nice IMO. Seeing hers is what put the XE on my radar

1. Triumph Herald - bought as a project around 1970 but eventually sold for parts
2. Minor 1000 - bought for £30 in 1971. I think I was robbed
3. Triumph Herald 1200 - Given to me as a non-runner and with a mix of panels in different colours. Fixed it up and painted it by hand (pot of paint and a brush) in the street, black with a red stripe, ran it for years
4. Mk1 Triumph Spitfire - It was a horrid orange colour and eventually the floor fell out
5. Triumph Dolomite 1850 - at one point it was burning a gallon of oil a week, eventually gave it to my father
6. 1970 Triumph TR6 - bought for £300 as a non runner and restored over a period of 4 years. I loved this car and to my regret it was eventually sold in favour of double glazing
7. Opal Manta in Polar White - my first new car. Toured northern France in this car
8. Morgan +4 in Rosso Red - bought new, looked great, drove like a bag of sh1t. Didn't keep it long but made money when I sold it
9. 1965 Alvis TE21 - I part exchanged the Morgan for this lovely car and kept the Alvis a lot longer than the Morgan
10. Vauxhall Cavalier - my first company car. I did 80k miles in this car
11. Montego - my second company car. Unfortunately this company had a policy of only providing Montegos as company cars. But it was OK, just
12. Vauxhall Vectra - another company car. Fortunately by the time I needed a new car the company had given up on Montegos
13. Vauxhall Calibra Turbo (1996) - company car, This company had a policy of providing any car up to a fixed value. So I bought the fastest car I could for the price. Very quick but the AWD did not inspire confidence and front tyres only lasted around 15k miles
15. Vauxhall Vectra V6 Auto - company car and very comfortable.
16. PT Cruiser - bought when I started my own business as it had loads of space in the back for equipment
17. Vauxhall Vectra - bought second hand to replace the unreliable PT which had eaten 3 auto gearboxes in 70k miles
18. Vauxhall Vectra diesel - bought my one and only diesel due to doing high mileage. Never again
19. 2004 Jaguar XKR - bought in 2012 with 40k miles and still owned, now 80k
20. Vauxhall Cascada - I fancied a convertible as a day car. Good fun but no boot space
21. 1975 Triumph TR6 - bought earlier this year as a retirement project and still owned. 49k original miles
22. 2016 Jaguar XE - bought when I finally retired earlier this year. The plan is to keep this one until I am too old/blind/stupid to drive
Richard Green

I know what's wrong and if I could find it I'd fix it.

2016 XE R-Sport - HJ16XES (Cat); 2004 XKR convertible - RG04XKR (Animal); 1975 Triumph TR6 - HPR30N (Rob)

My car ownership started in 2000 so took 19 years to get to my first jag.
1. 2000 - Nissan Micra Celebration 1L - 1st car and bought brand new, free insurance made it great value. Added a strut brace and k&n filter as well as upgraded the stereo. The k&n made a great noise but buggered up the fueling so had to take it off.

2. 2003 - Nissan Navara 2.5Td double cab - Another brand new one, loved this truck, could get twitchy at the back in the wet in 2wd. Surprisingly quick for something of its size.

2.5. 200? - Ford Sierra XR4i - bought as a toy with a mate, 1983 registered. Had the 2.8L V6 engine. Was quick, loved leaving the boy racers behind in their Novas from the traffic lights.

3. 2007 - Lexus IS200 - My son had just been born and the truck wasn't the best family car so went for a 2000 reg Lexus IS, my friend had owned one previously and liked his when he had it.

4. 2013 - Volvo V50 2.0Td - in white with anthracite alloys, 2006 MY, i thought it looked smart, the mrs said it was an old man's car. High mileage ex company car, things started to go wrong with the engine, funny if anyone driving up my arse I would plant my foot on the accelerator and a huge plume of black smoke would come out, they would usually back off after that.

5. 2016 - Mazda 3 2.2Td, Great engine and handled well, had lots of toys, HUD was great. Looked to get another when my PCP was up but best they could offer was a CX3 for considerably more than I was paying.

6. 2019 - Jaguar Xe Rsport 2L. While looking around for my next car I had never considered a Jaaaaag, thought they where well out of my price range. An ad popped up on fb for rybrook, it looked a good deal so I got in contact with them. Ended up ordering without even driving one. Given the choice I would have gone for a manual diesel but I'm happy with the petrol auto. Got to say this is the best car I've owned.
