He gave me his phone number a little while back for the purposes of getting his opinion on a couple things on my car and it’s likely still on my DMs. I could text him and ask if he’s okay, if that seems appropriate? It’s too late tonight now really.
Maybe best to wait and see if the member who emailed him hears back first. I don’t want him to feel hassled or that I mis-used his number.
Yes, thanks.
Hopefully he will reply to the email.

I am very sorry to hear Vespa has decided to leave. He was always the first to offer advice and help to anyone who needed it and he will be greatly missed. I hope he is ok.

The good news is that he is ok.
I've been sent a copy of his reply to an e-mail sent by Repairman.
It appears he had enough of some things that were going on and he personally felt enough was enough.
A partial quote from his reply:

"I was getting a bit fed up with contradictions over certain points that I have found out personally from experience with my car. There always seems that someone else will try to score points and rubbish some posts. I looked forward each day and during the day to the chit chat but now over the past few weeks decided that I was wasting my time."

I know personally that he was getting fed up with posting information, then when another member asked him a question about it, someone else would come in and answer it (often incorrectly) before he had a chance to reply.
I fully understand where he is coming from.
I'll say no more on the matter apart from I hope that after a break he returns to the forums again where his considerable knowledge will always be most welcome.

It's really good news is that he and his family are ok and well.

It is a sad day when he feels he needs to leave a forum that he has put so much into with his experience and knowledge. Hopefully he will return, as you say Phil he will be more than welcome.

Thats a great shame as I was just about to thank him for the steer towards Paints4U for the dreaded Sparkle Silver. Excellent materials and great service. If anyone is in touch with him, please do pass the message on.

I am pleased to hear he is ok at least, but it is a shame what has happened, and given time may be Vespa will return.

Hope this reaches you Vespa, and glad you and yous are ok.

This is just my opinion/experience.....

Come back Vespa, where will we be without you. You always had great info when a problem arose, and have helped me in your 'investigations' on some 'systems' that seemed impossible to manage.

There are always some nay-sayers and trolls around, or people who think they know better, even if they do, they don't need to be sarcastic, i now tend to ignore them in other forums i'm on, and get on with those that appreciate the info.

This would be a great time to have a like/dislike button and report button for feedback to others or admin.

I have never been a fan of a like dislike buttons and I have seen them abused in other forums by folk who simply don't like the person posting, regardless of the actual post itself. It is worth mentioning that every post has a report button, it's the red circle with an '!' in it. Using this sends a notification straight to admims and moderators.
