Clutch bite

Post by Palin1977 » Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:16 pm

Became a proud owner of my first jag this week. It's an early 2.0d but still generally happy.
Coming from 2 successive 3 series, one thing I'm struggling with is the bite point of the clutch as it feels high on the pedal. The previous 3 series needed the clutch almost dead on the floor to change gear, even with a new clutch??
Is the a characteristic of the car, hopefully??

I found it took me long while to get used to the clutch in my XE. Especially 1st & 2nd gear being quite clunky - not smooth at all, even now and have had the car nearly 2 years. I came from an A4 and relatively new Leon - found the clutch on both much smoother. It's my only major complaint with the car and if I were to go for a Jag again in future I'd go for automatic.

Does anyone know if this is common among the manual versions?
