There doesn't seem to be any other way to find out how up to date the map data is.
I could keep fighting with it until I get the card out, and then find there isn't an update anyway.
Or break something expensive.
Which is why I decided to leave it till the service.
look forward to hearing how the dealer visit goes.

Ok so I phoned jaguar and pretend I knew what I was talking about and told them the dealership I had bought the car from had left the thing on the SD card, he wasn't shocked and put me on hold, when he came back he apologized and booked the car in next Wednesday, he said they would need it for about 1 1\2 hours which I thought was a long time, He told there was some software updates for the car, I'm sure he said recalls plus a full valet😎

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the story so far.
Hopefully once we get our cards unlocked there will be an update available.
It would be nice if the sat nav knew there was a queensferry crossing.

I can tell you the latest maps for the Non Pro is HMEU26.3.9908.

Just took mine out the car and plugged into my PC and it says "I have the latest version".

These maps must be at least a year old now.

Mine is HMEU25.3.9550 as it's going in tomorrow for over one hour we'll see if they update it.

Just got back, they said they've never seen anything like it. The engineer managed to use a small thin screwdriver to price the metal plate off. It is an anti theft device but not one fitted by jlr. It as two small lugs that spring up to stop it being removed, easy to remove when you know how. Maps now updated but only to 26.1.9780.

Thanks for the update, although I'm now more confused than ever.
If the service manager didn't recognise the lock, who fitted it?
My car is an ex Jaguar one, so it is possible that they fitted it before it was delivered to the dealer.
Although I am now tempted to attack it with a small screwdriver :o

A picture is worth a thousand words, thanks for that.
A couple of minutes with a small screwdriver and I too have a little brass clip :D
Last change date on my SD card is January 2017, so maybe I have an update available.
Will try the updater software tonight
