Lumpy idle issue

Post by Fritzwells2000 » Sun Jul 22, 2018 8:39 pm

Hi all , I’m new the the Xe experience and since buying my 17 plate R sport a month ago I have covered 4000 enjoyable miles

That was until this weekend and now I seem to have developed this lumpy idle thing
Seen a few posts on here to say it’s lickely the fancy pants engine mounts playing up

It’s going in on the 13th for some other work and I will get them to look at it whilst it’s there but I have read on here it could just be a vacuum pipe that come off

Has anyone got any photos of the pipe ...if it’s just a case of popping it back on I could do that myself

Thanks

It could be just the pipe, but others have also had the actual mounts themselves fail.
Make sure they do the full test of the mounts (it is a standard test detailed in the SSM on the issue) if the cause isn't immediately obvious.

Did you manage to get it sorted? My XE is behaving a little weirdly when stopping suddenly in traffic, like the revs not coming down or taking a while to come down when I brake. Am wondering if it could be the vacuum pipe issue as well.

I'm not taking delivery of my XE until next week, so not something I've experienced in a Jag.
Is it a diesel? My current car, a Golf GTD does this, revs idling high and not smoothly when it's regenerating the diesel particulate filter, a normal function in the car. Could this be what's happening?

It’s going in tomorrow (I’ve been on my hols for the last couple of weeks so didn’t need it)

The idle drops to under 700 and it make the exhaust vibrate like hell ......the other day whilst parked up I just gently tried to raise the rpm with the throttle and as soon as it gets above 700 it smooths out but it’s almost impossible to keep it there

Will let you guys know how I get on
