Seat belt fault

Post by Andy123 » Fri Nov 09, 2018 5:06 pm

So I have had my xe for 1 month now

Had a child in the seat behind the driver recently and found out that the seat belt is not working. It does not latch at all.

I have rang the dealer who have booked me in for the 4th dec

How can jaguar not check a seat belt this is like a mot failure. Should I take this future or just let the dealer fix this?

Are you sure? The middle belt has one buckle which is different to the ones for normal outside seats. Double check you do not have the buckles mixed up. I assume this is what you mean by not latching??

I have checked and it's the outside seats. The lock itself has an issue. See attached

12033 is the fault pic . The other pic is the middle seat belt

Ah yes one buckle does not latch because it is the one for the middle belt & the other has a 5p stuck in it. Dont go to the dealer it aint broke!! Shake it out or wrap some double sided tape on to end of a small screwdriver or use a magnet to fish it out!! :D

Definitely a coin, I'd say a couple of small screwdrivers, one either side could carefully lever/pop that out.

Something tells me this is going to be an expensive repair as I think that coin is stuck fast and a new belt system will be needed. I bet they are only available as a complete set as well.

I have a feeling that Andy will be back on here shortly to confirm that there is no coin in there and to confirm that it is just the mechanism we can see.

I'm sure he'd have been able to see a coin if there was indeed one stuck in there....
