Post by JiggyJag » Sat Jan 12, 2019 11:42 pm

Coming to the end of my bottle of Rae Chem PH neutral car shampoo.

This stuff is fantastic. It doesn't foam a huge amount but it does add a hydrophobic layer which when used between waxs/coatings keeps the surface lovely and beady! I was really impressed with it. Even on an old car with no previous wax coating the beading was fantastic!

I had a 5 litre Triplewax that lasted the best part of 10 years with two cars getting washed once a week minimum. I only needed to use a capfull per bucket. I replaced it with Halfords own brand............... RUBBISH!! to say the least. I have used it for 3 washes now and am a third down the bottle (2 Ltrs) I am on the lookout now for a bargain 4 or 5 ltr Triplewax again.

Car chem 1900:1 seems to get the best reviews on detailing world and forensic detailing. Very slick and available in a variety of smells - i got 5l for £21.99 before christmas and its very good.

Failing that you can’t usually go wrong with megs gold class shampoo which can be got from halfords.

I'm using valet pro advanced poseidon at the moment, recommended by my detailer, seems good. https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/valet-pr ... d-car-wash (can also recommend cleanyourcar.co.uk - had a few orders from them, no issues, speedy delivery)

Halfords have a sale on at present so avoid their own brand and try the Meguiars.

Have a look at the DO DO juice as advertised at discount on here. They usually get good press ratings.

I really recommend Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner, excellent stuff...

from their site:

Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner is a low foaming, pH neutral shampoo that adds a water repellent film to surfaces to enable quick rinsing and drying. This film also acts as a gloss enhancer to visually refresh surfaces. It is wax safe.

I get most of my detailing stuff from DodoJuice as per the discount - the 'Born to be mild' shampoo is good but expensive if bought in bulk hence me sticking with carchem 1900:1 - I do recommend watching this -

As per other DodoJuice stuff - the waxes, detailing spray, glass cleaner, pre-wax cleanserr, citrus tfr remover and snow foam are all excellent and highly recommended.

I use both Meguiars Ultimate and Autoglym’s new Ultra High Definition shampoos. Love using snow foam before washing, which is a recent discovery. Also have a Meguiars wash mitt.
