Post by akaazz » Sun Jan 13, 2019 8:31 am

Has anyone had any experience repairing a cracked bumper on the XE
New part is c.300 plus paint and labour from jag, and it’s not too damaged so want to try and get it done cheaper and keep the original if poss

I've seen repairs of plastic panels using specialist flexible filler etc but you need to weigh up the cost of having it repaired and painted against buying a new one and having that painted.
I'd get a few quotes from body shops.

Chips Away did a very good job on a Ford Focus I had, and charged me around £80 at the time (8 years ago)
Might be worth getting a quote

Secondhand one from eBay/gumtree? Worth a look, plenty of breakers post parts on there.

They’re £200 and all have scratches too, so will need a respray too - but thanks for looking
So wondering if anyone’s done a repair - there’s loads of guides online and Halfords stock stuff
Just wondering actual results

It's not something I'd tackle myself as I'd never be able to blend the paint right, but your skill level may be better. Otherwise, give a bodyshop a call, they should be able to repair it for a reasonable price.
