Engine light is on

Post by Unoex » Thu Jun 27, 2019 7:13 am

Hy,
I have a problem with Jaguar XE 20d 132kw 08.2015. 166000km
Engine light is on and vibration is in engine and muffler.
If i start the car then sometime it wont start immediately and sometime it is.
If i let start/stop button in, then the car will allmost never start after stopping.
When i drive then everything is ok, no power loss, only when i park/stop is the problem.
Sometime is everything ok and engine light is not on.
Dealer says it has a P0016 camsaft/crancksaft correlation error.
They replaced camshaft sensor and nothing changed.
Now they say that the engine must be taken off.
And maybe the problem is in the chains (upper or lower chain parts) or in Adjustable camshaft end wheel parts.
And they say its not a warranty issue.
Sorry for the langue/spelling.
Best Regards

Is your mileage true?
That is over 100, 000 miles so you may well have issues with the timing chains which we have seen on a few diesels.
Your vehicle will be out of warranty unless you got the extended 2 year approved used warranty.
If you have the approved used warranty then I would think you will be covered for engine issues.
If not, the best you can hope for is if you complain to Jaguar and they offer to make a contribution to the costs of repair.

yes, mileage is correct.
I bought this car from Germany and i am second owner.
I dont have extended warranty.
Do they have to take motor off for replacing the timing chains?

Yes or they can remove the gearbox. You want to do your research on here and go with not fit for purpose. The timing chain should last the life of the engine. There have been a decent number of owners that have had issues, do some research on here to strengthen your case.

I think our new friend is in Estonia and may not have the same laws covering cars. If it was bought in Germany maybe there is something there.
Unoex are you sure it's not a blocked DPF that is the problem?
