Purchase of an XE S - Advice

Post by JagXE123456 » Fri Nov 08, 2019 10:43 am

Morning guys,

Firstly, I know this will have been covered in the past but I'm struggling with the search function for some reason, so if anyone could give me a steer it would be appreciated.

I'm currently close to buying myself a used, 4 year old Jaguar XE S. I love the styling and have checked all the normal things, but is there anything in particular you enthusiasts would recommend double checking/requesting on a model with circa 20,000 miles on the clock?

Thanks

Apart from the usual checks, have a good look at the brake discs.
If they have been sitting on a forecourt for a while the discs can rust beyond minor surface stuff that will clear on a short drive.
Make sure it has been fully serviced and at the right times.
If you can get hold of the Vin then use this to see what's what.

Engines are pretty bomb-proof so you shouldn't have issues with it if it has been looked after properly.

Thanks Phil, much appreciated.

I've seen some mixed messages on the required servicing, latest I've found on here is every 2 years or 21k, is this correct?

The two year servicing is a very recent thing that's appeared and still under debate.
As far as the V6 is concerned it should be every 12 months or 16,000 miles, whichever comes first.
