Misfire when cold starting 2015 Xe r-sport 180 diesel

Post by Chopper1963 » Sun Nov 10, 2019 9:43 pm

Has any one had the same problem,
The car starts but it’s very lumpy and there’s a bit of smoke ( smells like unburnt diesel ) and then 10 seconds after everything is fine no power loss
Could it be heater plugs or or is there a cam sensor upgrade I’m sure I’ve read this somewhere??

It sounds like a dodgy glow plug to me.

I had this on a TDCI mondeo and it was diagnosed as a leaking injector. Never caused a problem and only happened when parked overnight.

I never bothered changing the injector. It’s been that way for 7 years and still going.

When you get time give it a dose of Wynns diesel injector cleaner and a wizz up the M62 or M58 whichever is nearer. It may be just a dirty injector and the DPF will get a clean out as well. https://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/fuel-oil-additives/wynns-xtreme-diesel-system-cleaner-325ml It's worth £7 instead of going down the expensive dealer parts route.

Looking around the usual sites, I can't find them listed. Might be worth a call to Sturgess Jaguar in Leicestershire, or SNG Barratt for advice.

Looking at typical prices and specs they don't look like an expensive item and typically from what i can see about a fiver. I too cannot find them anywhere so I assume you'll be obliged to source from a dealer.
