Who is still working through the shutdown?

Post by 147daytona » Thu Mar 26, 2020 6:35 pm

Just wondering how many of us are still at work during the current shutdown and what job you have?

I work for a precision engineering company and produce parts for local companies that are in the food and pharmaceutical supply chain as well as the oil, gas and water industries.

I and my workmates have all commented on the dirty looks we get from some people as we are travelling to and from work, I suppose questioning why we are out and about.

I’ve been working from home all week, they closed the Factory on Tuesday morning after Boris said that we all had to stay in.

However the F1 teams are grouping together to make ventilators and I should start running off the first 200 sets of components tomorrow.

I'm working from home as we have no roads teams working on the roads. But I do volunteer and deliver shopping and prescriptions for those who cannot go out.

I’m still working, I’m in power generation. We have a few people off, but no confirmation cases (fingers crossed).

I’m still working. I work in the chemical industry as a technical manager. Mostly from home. We postponed a lot of projects and turnarounds. Maintenance, production 90%.

Quite rightly the NHS received got the applause last night, but guys like you and all those who work in a supermarket deserve a huge amount of applause as well.

I am retired but there would be no way I could have ventilators and patients at home.
Sadly I I am now so far into retirement that my skills would be very limited now as I have forgotten quite a bit of what I knew and of course things have changed in 15 years. :? I am "almost" in that critical age group of the 70's
