Ive had the XE R-Sport 2.0d for over 6 months now and i have to say apart from the few return journeys back to the dealer to resolve issues clearly pointed out on collection day i absolutley love this car.

Before this i had a brand new VW Tiguan RLine very nice car bit firm on the ride but still a nice motor that said i'm so glad its no longer in my posession now :D

There is however one thing the Tiguan did when it came to the Stop/Start feature and that was remember the choice of whether i'd enabled or disabled the S/S feature when i next came to start the car.

Which got me to wondering is there a way to disable this feature on the XE apart from the option to switch it off once the engine has started

Thanks Phil , i think after reading that thread i need to stop being lazy and like you just remember to factor it in to starting the car procedure.

At least i no know how to disable it if it becomes a chore ;)

Your Auto Stop/Start will probably pack up anyway - mine has, for no known reason. And it's a proper good thing.
I think the low outside temperature has a bearing on this will probably return when the weather improves

Mine worked all the time .... every time. My house is 3 houses down my street. By the time I made it to the corner at the main road my car would shut down consistently. Ugh. Certainly reminded me to "push the button" if I had forgotten to during my pre-flight checklist. So glad it no longer functions. No ill effects to disabling it so far.

Re low outside tempereature - we've hardly had a cold winter. My (excellent) lack of auto stop/start is complete, whether on long or short journeys, or on warmer or colder days. It used to work............let's hope it continues not to. Is it possible my car has learnt my preference??

Yes i agree it seems more trouble than its worth, when i pull up outside my drive i always reverse in , as soon as i stop to put it in reverse engine cuts out ! I wonder if the premature cost of a starter motor would out weigh any fuel saving ?

Same issue I had, that's why I unplugged mine.

I find the Stop/Start annoying sometimes.
Where the system falls down is in stopping the engine immediately when you come to a halt -
it would be a much more useable system if there was say, a two or three second pause before
kicking in.

Geoff 11 it's not just reversing, mine kicks in as soon as I pull up on
the drive, pressing the start stop button at this point just confuses everything ! :? :?
