If you go by the book (topix/workshop manual), the battery is supposed to be replaced after an SOS call, so looks like you're going down the right path given your last message. But as I said in my last post, I don't believe the system automatically re-calibrates itself, so you need to get Jaguar to reset it when the battery is replaced to remove the warning - so possibly not something you can do yourself anyway.

As for the TCU location - maybe the location under the steering column is for vehicles with the basic Incontrol system? (as the location I posted is for if you have Incontrol Touch Pro)

Thanks Paul.....the SOS system is something that I don't really need and I have a second free service due in January next year. So I think I will just put up with the annoying warning until then when the battery check should be part of the service

Now I know that you won't believe it but......the warning light has gone !!
This morning when I started the car there was no warning showing, I just hope it's gone for good and I am not imagining it and/or speaking too soon.... please will you all cross your fingers for me, thanks

One battery is rechargeable and the other not. The non rechargeable battery only comes in when the rechargeable is either too cold to operate or not enough charge. It is possible that the rechargeble has now fully recharged with the car being driven and reset the warning. Eventually the pack will need changing and should last 10 years.

Telematics unit on 2017 Jaguar XE is located under the rear left side of the back seat. In the area where a passengers left armpit would be positioned while seated. The rechargeable battery has a cover on the unit that can be pried open to access.
