Well my XE has been back to the dealership so many times with various faults and problems.. but heres the next one
my cars covered around 25k miles

The engine is sounding very noisy the technician even said it sounded like a "tractor" so it went back in yesterday and they have to refer it to Jaguar as it sounds like it could be injectors or lifters or something... so they have to get a tech guy to come up and see what happens next and have a listen. I also got a 4 way alignment done and when I got the car back to my house I parked up then came back out to it a few hours later to park it in my parking space and lots of warnings came up and said "stability error do not drive" and it shut down and then the car would not start just kept lighting the ignition and shutting off it was weird...

Rang jaguar assist next day AA came out and they checked the battery and it was ok but just under the ampage or something so gave it a slave start and it started.. so the cars now back in but Jaguar have gave me a 66 plate R sport with lots of extras on so I am enjoying that :)

Just hope I can get things sorted but it seems there is always something up with my car :)

I have just had a new engine in mine at 6K. Took 12 weeks to be done.

Whine that sounds like turbo but that was replaced made no difference. Engine replaced and it now appears ok.
Had so many problems with the car. In 40 years of driving never had a car like it. Collecting a replacement next week. Hopefully the new one will stay out of the dealers.

The dealer has had to send special reports to jaguar and waiting on a call back now to see what is going to happen...
In the meantime my car would not start the other morning had to get AA out and it was something to do with Battery was in the garage for 2 days and some update for the battery??
2 days later I have a gearbox fault come on dash.... keeps popping up but now its kinda disappeared

will this ever end :(

Just for interest when was your car made. Mine was a early model.

It was a 2015 model well on a 65 plate. I have had so many problems with it I am just getting fed up I love the car but there is always something.
It is a leased car and I am wondering if there is anything I can do to contact the lease company for an early finish of the contract and maybe get a brand new one? What do you recon my options are?

Mine is also a 15 on a 65 plate. After they told me it needed a new engine I lost my cool as it was in the dealers every other week. So after discussions with JLR they built me a new one which I collect on Saturday.
I have never been so disappointed with a car in my life. Hope the new one is better otherwise its a Skoda.

That is really interesting to know. I am going to see what comes back with the engine noises and see what JLR suggest doing . It if is going to need engine work.. in jectors.. etc then I will put it to them and see what happens. What way you recon I should go around it? Just tell them straight up give me a new car?

What to do in the first instance is to list all the problems from day 1. I also logged every visit to the dealer with time and date and also when the car was returned to me. Good starting point as it is useful to show that the car is not fit for purpose.

Your first point of call would be with the dealer. Start with them. Are they aware of all the issues?

#14 ·
Also ask for a printout of all the warranty claims on the car. In my instance this has exceed ÂŁ16,000 yes that is right!

#15 ·
I have requested all the forms from jaguar they are compiling them all been on the phone to jaguar customer support and logged in but they are just saying "we will work with the dealership to get these problems sorted"

Today I have an ABS fault come on and takes out all the AEB, stability control and special driving modes so call Jaguar assist and he said it needs to go into the dealer to investigate further. They had no Jags left but gave me a discovery sport hse with all the extras on so that were not too bad.

still waiting back from jaguar to decide what to do about the engine noise as they still need to decide what to do...

its just one thing after another :-(

Really disappointing to hear this - new Ingenium diesel failures seem to be cropping up far more than they should. I guess that's the issue with a brand new engine line. I hope the Ingenium petrols fare better - quite glad I got a tried-and-tested Ford EcoBoost in mine!

"new Ingenium diesel failures seem to be cropping up far more than they should"

Well sadly I can report another one, early model 65 plate ( late 2015 ) covered 28k, noticed a couple of weeks ago that on tick over there was a very slight knocking/pinking noise, the only reason I noticed this was I had to get out of the car to buzz a clients electric gate intercom and left the engine running, the noise could not be heard from within the car, I monitored this over the next week and convinced myself it was getting louder although you could still only hear it outside the car. On Monday this week I popped into a Jaguar dealership whilst out and about, after explaining the noise to the service department one of their technicians came out of the workshop to have a listen, he didn't seem too concerned and just said to get it booked into my local dealership, the following day I drove to my local dealership and expressed my concerns about this knocking noise, they were so blasé about the situation and didn't even want to listen to it ! The first appointment they had was 31st March so I booked it in.

The following day after a 70 mile run in the morning, the noise was audible ( although only just ) from within the car at which point I called Jaguar Assist, there Technician came out and within 30 seconds of starting the engine told me that I was not to drive it and he would arrange recovery to the same dealer that I had booked the appointment with the day before !

The Jaguar Assist Technician thought it could be the Balance Shaft Bearings but he was only guessing !

Had a call from the main dealer on Friday afternoon, they don't know what's causing the knocking noise but have found metal shavings on the sump plug magnet and within the oil !

Jaguar are sending a replacement engine as they want my original back for analysis.

This is my first Jaguar and to be honest with the issues I've had with faults and recalls so far I won't be getting another one, shame it's a nice drive and a good looking motor !

The fun begins.

Now reject the car. Deal with JLR direct. Not fit for purpose.

#19 ·
So I've rang jaguar direct and logged a complain but all they said they will ring the dealer and make sure they get it sorted.... I said Its not good enough. It's been weeks and still no further forward with the noisy engine. I'm ringing the leasing company see if I can dl anything through them as I'm getting so fed up

You need to write to JLR recorded delivery to the executive office. Tell them all the problems and what action you want them to take. Give them 7 days or you will seek legal action.
Mine was a early car and it was a nightmare. Picked up a new one last week and I can't believe the difference.

Didn't know I could reject the car, its been a nightmare, exhaust rattling, rear suspension knocking, adblue bottle rattling, fuel gauge not working correctly, washer bottle "low" light not working ( i assume it has one but not sure ) high level brake light filling with water, failed to start one evening and had to leave it overnight in a public car park, the following day Jaguar Assist attended and had to re-programme the engine electronics ! !

On two occasions while filling with fuel there's has been so much "mist" from the filler nozzle that the cashier has come over the garage intercom and asked me to stop filling the vehicle ! !

I've complained about the brakes on two occasions now, when hard breaking a couple of times in a row they start to sound loud/harsh and judder, Jaguar say they cant find an issue.

Jaguar have fitted a new section of exhaust and it still rattles

This really is the worst new car I have ever had its becoming embarrassing to drive ! !

In one sense I shouldn't be monitoring these feeds but I do because of an inbuilt love of the older Jaguars. I had my XE for exactly a year and experienced all the faults you are seeing plus of course road rash on the spats, boot bumper problems, carpet, spectacle case falling to bits, and a replacement steering rack. Starting problems were my main concern although I developed a procedure to get me over it when it wouldn't start. Needless to say my wife refused to drive it.
I couldn't take it any longer and last September I traded it in for a top spec Mercedes C Class that worked out cheaper. Since then not a thing wrong. Inside quality is better, paint quality far far better, rear wheel arches stay clean, the sat nav is bang up to date. Perhaps most of all Mercedes have been in touch several times to ensure that I am happy with the car. JLR never did, not once.
Jaguar have the potential for a very nice car. I know there are many happy drivers but there are a whole load of us that have quietly drifted away and will never go near a Jaguar again. It was a costly exercise for us and not to be repeated.
My advice is fight for everything you can directly with Jaguar by letter and phone, not the Dealer, and if you are not happy ditch it.
The happy ones are probably luckier than they realise.

It is such a shame but it does feel that those of us the bought early models have been the Ginny Pigs for the testing of the cars. Were they brought to market to early? I don't know but there are a lot of second hand XE out there for sale, lots are MY16. It also appears the F Pace is also having problems.
I know its early days having done 250 miles on my replacement but it is a totally different car. I specified a like for like with the exception of adding a few extras (Keyless entry, Spare Wheel, Meridian and the full Panoramic pack rather than just the sun roof, also changed the colour from glacier white to Polaris White - which I have a touch up pen for.... lol)
The whole car is so much quieter (that's even after having a replacement engine and turbo in the old one at just over 6000 miles) Steering and suspension feel tighter to. Its is a whole different experience, so I should be able to make comparison. I have never been so disappointed in a car in my life with all the problems making a visit to the dealers every other week. I'm sure they built mine just to get it in the showroom with what ever they had to hand, it even had rear seat lights that never worked and should not have had. They never sorted that one out.
Having been driving for 40+ years out of all my cars put together they have never spent so much time back at the dealers. I appreciate our expectations are high but then we are buying a premium car at a premium price and expect it to be right.
Yes I know the rear paint work gets chipped but by putting protection film on it will give protection (did this on the last one and after a year no marks at all - I even did this on a Montego I had, but the film was supplied in the boot) That's tomorrows Job if its not raining.
So I hope the new one spends less time at the dealers rather than half the year as previous, otherwise its a Skoda next time
