Has anyone had this problem?
Stopped at services a long way from home. When I restarted the car, the gear knob rose up as normal but wouldn’t budge in to gear at all.
Eventually I bought a tool to disconnect the battery for a minute and then it worked. Set off and reached the end of the journey.
Straight after restarting, the gear problem came back.
I’ve left the battery disconnected overnight, praying it’ll restart on Sunday to get me home. Is this an aging battery problem or is there a common fault with the gear selector or brake switch which manifests in this way?
