To debadge or not to debadge?

So I've recently debadged the rear of my XE and in my opinion, it looks way better clean. My wife, however, seems to think it makes the Jag look like a Honda Civic.

Now I can't decide which look to go with:

What do you guys think looks the best / what have you done to your XEs?

I liked it when jaguar just used the leaper, I don't know why they felt the need to write Jaguar on it as well. So middle one for me.

Like the rear diffuser quad system, really want this on my XES but would prefer it to just be black rather than carbon fibre. Was it a workshop job or can it be done easily at home?

Debadged both of mine, leaving just the leaper.
Didn't like the lettering when the leaper says it all - imho

Thanks for your input guys! My original plan was to leave just the leaper, but once the letters were gone it looked a little bit off. I ripped the leaper off thinking I would just move it down a little bit. It never dawned on me that the leaper was designed to match the curvature of the car at that very specific point of the trunk... so repositioning it ended up in a fail and I just decided to leave it off.

As for the diffuser..
@h11pyd, my XE is an R-Sport and it fit... with a little bit of brute force. it was a little smaller when compared to the stock diffuser or even the dual config carbon fiber one, but in the end I made it fit
:)

@Renesis, I had the exhaust system installed at the shop, but they refused to install the diffuser because it wouldn't just snap right in like the stock one so I ended up doing it myself at home.
It took less than an hour to remove the rear bumper attach the diffuser and put the bumper back on.
I suppose you could do the exhaust tips yourself as well, but it would involve cutting the stock tail pipes in half for the bolt-ons to fit.

@PhilB, I wish... It's just a plain ol' 240ps with a Chinese exhaust system :)

I don't think I'm ready to start cutting my car apart just yet.
Would it affect the warranty in doing so?

One of the main reasons for chopping in our old XF was to have a car under warranty again.

I've never been a fan of debagdged cars. I'm the one that likes to add more badges to a car. I'll admit to putting VXR badges on my first car which was a Vauxhall vectra. Please be gentle but the photo should be good for a giggle at.

Can you put that wing on the front to plough snow in the winter? ;)

Isn't that a front wheel drive car? I bet the added downforce on the rear from that wing did wonders for the handling and traction ;)

As to the original question; don't de-badge, it looks too generic without its leaper.

I said be gentle!!

It actually caused a rear spring to snap due to excessive downforce.

It was a 2.0petrol 136bhp. A very cool first car in my day. I had to say it was my mother's to get insured which was difficult explaining to local plod as this sort of car seemed a magnet for being pulled over.

Back to the oringinal post, this is what happens when you over badge. So probably best left as is to avoid any stereotyping.

As long as it's not a performance mod, it shouldn't. But if having a warranty was one of the reasons you switched cars then why risk it? I got mine done mainly because I hated the way my exhaust sounded, but you got an XE-S so you shouldn't have that issue anyway.

And I think I'm about ready to rebadge my car this weekend. After driving around badgeless for a week, I'm starting to miss the leaper

I just have a real thing for quad pipes. Everyone knows quad pipes means serious business

If I keep the car out of warranty then 405bhp remap and quad pipes are first on the list!

Haha - oh wow my dream car!

Contrary to popular belief, this is more my cup of tea ...

Also if you skwint it's almost resembles my old vectra. It was just ahead of its time with its design.

I remember watching that video when I was waiting to collect my car.

To be honest I'm finding this a handful in the wet never mind that beast!

On the subject of de-badging what is the purpose of this horrendous rectangle cover. Can this be de badged

Is it just a protective cover or is it in fact the unit itself?
Love the ACC but my god it looks horrible. Hope jag manage to work around this in the future as our XC90 doesn't have this contraption and that drives itself!

Also what I was staying earlier about adding badges. I have contemplated S badges on the side vents. I fear it could be OTT though

I suspect it was just another dodgy spring, it was the plaque of the average car market in that period :)

In reality, you'd added too much drag for the car to go fast enough to generate any significant downforce ;)
